About this english typing test
Choose a reviewed email, a sequence of desk instructions, or a weekly report from the Exercise menu. Each passage has a specific focus. The original generated office-sentence test remains available for varied practice and optional certificates.
Timed passages repeat as needed until the timer ends. A selected passage is free practice and has its own progress history.
What this test helps you practise
- Capitals and punctuation in an email
- Short instructions in a clear sequence
- Numbers and semicolons in a weekly report
- Comparing the same passage over repeated attempts
How your typing result is measured
Your free result includes net WPM, raw WPM, accuracy, total mistakes, uncorrected errors, correct characters, and elapsed time. Number tests also show KPH, while data-entry tests show correctly completed records.
Scores are calculated locally in your browser. Learn the exact formulas in how typing scores work.
Tips for a more useful result
- Read the first sentence before starting.
- Backspace to a recent mistake before retyping it.
- Review the recommended drill after your result.
- Keep the exercise and duration the same when comparing.
Choose a passage with a purpose
- A clear email: practise names, sentence openings, commas, and a sign-off.
- Desk instructions: practise short sentences and spaces while following a sequence.
- A weekly report: combine prose with digits and mixed punctuation.
The material is written for TypingNova. It is a transcription exercise, not a test of grammar, reading comprehension, or original writing. Selected passages intentionally repeat during longer tests so that the timer can complete.
Make one useful change
If the feedback highlights capitals, try the capitals drill at a comfortable pace. Repeat the original passage afterward and compare accuracy as well as speed. Progress keeps the selected exercise separate from the original generated test, so changing the material does not silently alter your comparison.
Correcting the text
The timed tool enters text at the end. To fix an earlier character, backspace through the text after it and retype. The timer keeps running, and the original wrong entry remains in keystroke accuracy. For cursor-based editing without a timer, try the keyboard lessons.
Pick the next challenge
Use original story passages for continuous prose, or record fields for careful transfer of mixed information. If you are still finding the keys, the beginner lessons provide shorter exercises with a clear endpoint.
